KIDS DANCE PROGRAM DETAILS AND POLICIES

 

Star Dance Centre is committed to providing performing arts programming to cultivate the next generation of stars and to help enrich kids’ lives through dance and self-expression.

We provide professional dance education to kids in a safe and welcoming environment.                             

Our Star instructors take pride in being not only teachers but also mentors to students. They guide students in learning dance technique and artistry, but also in finding the joy of dance and learning valuable life skills. All our faculty members are actively involved in the dance community as performers, choreographers, competitors, judges and ambassadors of dance.

 

2022/2023 Season Details

Our season runs throughout the school year from September 12, 2022 to June 26 2023.

Throughout the season, kids will learn dance fundamentals, develop expression and coordination, gain self-confidence, and of course, have fun! 

Each age group has a variety of options of dance classes to choose from. By the end of the season students will better understand the chosen dance genre(s) and may begin to recognize which ones they wish to specialize in. 

At the end of the year students will participate in an Examination to test their skills and give them an opportunity to perform. Students will receive Certification for successfully completing one full year, which will allow them to continue to the next level in the following season.

Students will also be given the opportunity to perform their acquired skills at our annual showcases in December and June.

We recommend that students commit for the full school as the curriculum is built for the full year in preparation for the end of year Examinations. Students may join mid-season if there is space in the program, but they will need to pass an assessment in order to be considered for Certification and Examination. The team may recommend private or semi-private classes to help the child successfully complete the season.

 

Ages Groups

  1. Mini Star Kids Team (4-6yrs)
  2. Junior Star Kids Team (7-10yrs)
  3. Rising Star Team (11-13yrs)
  4. Performance/Competition Team (7-13)

    (Students will be assessed by instructors to be a part of each team)

 

Fees and Discounts

Our dance season consists of 38 weeks of classes (September – June). Payments can be paid in full or  may be paid in two installments –

1st installment : Due at registration 

2nd installment : due by December 11th, 2022.

Additional class enrollment will receive a $70 cash back for each extra class added.

Siblings Discount – $40 cash back for each additional child.

 

2022/2023 Fee Schedule:

HST and a one-time registration fee (for filming and certification) of $25/person is added to all tuition fees.

Full year enrollment Fees

Earlybird : $780 if enrolled by or before September 10th

Regular (after September 10th) : $850 

 

Registration:

Those who register to pay tuition via credit card, will be automatically charged at the beginning of each term. Cardholders are responsible for ensuring that their card information is up to date to avoid any late fees or penalty charges.

 

Cancellation:

Cancellation Policy

Star Dance Centre reserves the right to combine or cancel classes due to low enrolment. In the event of inclement weather and/or other emergencies, the studio may cancel classes and make up classes may or may not be available, families will be notified as soon as possible.

 

Refunds

The following refund conditions apply for all refund requests:

100% of remaining class fees will be refunded prior to the fifth class.

50% of remaining class fees will be refunded prior to December 22nd, 2022.

Please note that refunds will not be issued after December 22nd, 2022 and that the registration fee is non-refundable. The withdrawal date is the date that notice is given to Star Dance Centre. Non-attendance in a class does not constitute notice of withdrawal from the class.

An exception will be made in the case of medical reasons (doctor’s note must be provided) or relocation.

There is no refund or credit for missed classes. Depending on availability, students may join another class of their age group to make up for the missed class.

 

Overdue accounts and administration fees:

A $35 charge is applied to all cheques returned by the bank for any reason. Payments will be considered late if not received by the first class of each term. A 2% charge will be added on the last day of each month on all delinquent accounts. Students with an outstanding balance will not be permitted in class. 

 

Recitals & Costumes:

We will having two annual showcases in December and June. Dates will be announced as the year progresses.

In the event that performances are possible, students will be given the option to participate. Those who choose to perform will require a costume for showcases. Costumes will be ordered by our studio, costume fees will be discussed with families in advance.

 

Communication:

Important studio information is distributed and updated on a regular basis. Our main means of communication is via email. Please check for updates regularly to avoid confusion. Please ensure your email address is correct upon registration. 

 

Miscellaneous:

Please leave any valuables at home, the studio is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.

For safety reasons please avoid jewellery and ensure that you are dressed appropriately in comfortable clothing and indoor athletic shoes to allow for proper instruction.

Parents must pick up their children immediately following their class.
